MGEN Marlette to speak at December meeting

Originally scheduled as speaker for our 50th Anniversary in 2020, we are delighted that Major General Jeffrey Marlette, Adjutant General for the State of South Dakota, has remained steadfast in his commitment to be with us as speaker for our luncheon meeting on Friday, December 10, 2021!  Please RSVP to LCDR Bonnie Walker at 605-381-7285 or to bonniewalker@midco.net  by Friday, December 5th.

The COVID-19 virus has wreaked havoc with our meeting schedule.  Despite postponements and  cancellations – all necessitated by the virus – we've persevered and will meet for an 11:30 luncheon at the Rapid City Post #22 American Legion club located at 818 E. Saint Patrick St.  This will be the first face-to-face meeting of Black Hills Chapter members since our Christmas gathering in December of 2019.  The plated roast beef luncheon is $14/person.

While there is limited parking in front of the building, there is more than ample parking behind the building, including convenient access to the entry.  Our luncheon will be in the larger Post #22 meeting room, allowing for greater social distancing.

General Marlette – a Lifetime Member of the Military Officers Association of America and a longtime member of our Black Hills Chapter – has graciously consented to accommodate schedule changes over the past many months due to the coronavirus.

Appointed South Dakota's 22nd Adjutant General in June 2019, General Marlette serves as the Commanding General for both the South Dakota Air and Army National Guard and guides the preparation of 4,200 Air and Army National Guard citizen Soldiers and Airmen and 950 full-time federal and state employees to respond in times of state or national emergency.

General Marlette is responsible for federal and state missions, assignment of leaders, recruiting, training, equipping, mobilization, facilities and public relations   He is also responsible for formulating, developing and coordinating all policies, plans and programs affecting Army and Air National Guard members in South Dakota.  General Marlette and his wife Sandy live in Rapid City. They have three grown children and six grandchildren.

This promises to be an informative and fun meeting.  We'll also have our Dirty Santa Christmas Gift Exchange! (Gifts of $10 or less, please)  It's entirely optional for attendees.   More Gift Exchange Informaton.

Mark your calendars and plan to join us – Friday, December 10!
